Hi, I'm Nicci Bedson, an artist based in the Illawarra, NSW.
My approach to painting combines elements of traditional with contemporary, primarily being a realist painter. Through house facades, domestic objects, interiors and backyard scenes I aim to evoke nostalgia and a sense of belonging. These paintings reflect not just the suburban landscapes that surround us but also the memories and shared history that define our local identity and sense of community. My intention is to capture the everyday beauty that is all around us which can often be overlooked, and allow people to rediscover their own sense of pride and awe in their own backyards. Through attention to lighting and shadow I bring something nostalgic to my work, turning the ordinary into something more deliberate, beautiful and familiar.

I graduated with a Masters of Creative Arts from the University of Wollongong in 2009 and have developed my professional practice in the Illawarra region.
I work in several art galleries as an art installer which compliments and supports my art practice. I undertake commissions throughout the year and connect with my audience through instagram. My daily life is balanced between parenting my little boy, maintaining my art practice and pursuing my jobs in the arts.
